Group Supply Chain & Logistics Manager

About the Role & Our Client

On behalf of our client, a diversified Ethiopian business group operating across agriculture, coffee processing and roasting, trading, export, and related commercial activities, we are seeking an experienced Group Supply Chain & Logistics Manager to lead and optimize the Group's end-to-end supply chain and logistics operations.

The role will have a strong focus on international export and import operations, while overseeing logistics, warehousing, inventory, fleet, trade documentation, and supply chain planning across multiple business units.

The successful candidate will work closely with Finance, Sales & Marketing, Procurement, Operations, Quality, and external stakeholders to ensure efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of products and materials.

Key Responsibilities

Supply Chain & Logistics Management

  • Develop and implement integrated supply chain and logistics plans aligned with business requirements.
  • Optimize transportation, warehousing, inventory, distribution, and logistics costs.
  • Establish effective SOPs, controls, and performance standards across supply chain operations.
  • Identify operational risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities for continuous improvement.

Export & Import Operations

  • Manage end-to-end export and import operations from order confirmation through final delivery.
  • Coordinate international shipments, container positioning, freight forwarding, customs clearance, and transportation.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of export and import documentation.
  • Monitor vessel schedules, shipment status, delays, and delivery requirements.
  • Coordinate with shipping lines, freight forwarders, clearing agents, banks, regulators, and international customers.
  • Ensure compliance with Ethiopian and international trade requirements.

Trade Finance & Compliance

  • Coordinate trade finance requirements with Finance, including LC, CAD, TT, and related documentation.
  • Ensure export documentation meets contractual and banking requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory requirements and minimize risks related to documentation errors, delays, penalties, and demurrage.

Warehouse, Inventory & Fleet

  • Oversee inventory control, warehouse operations, stock reconciliation, and export readiness.
  • Manage transportation and fleet utilization, maintenance, fuel efficiency, and operating costs.
  • Strengthen systems for inventory accuracy, traceability, asset utilization, and accountability.

Leadership & Performance

  • Lead and develop the Group Supply Chain & Logistics team.
  • Establish KPIs and monitor supply chain, logistics, transportation, and inventory performance.
  • Prepare management reports and provide strategic recommendations to the Group COO.
  • Drive cost optimization, process improvement, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, Business Administration, Finance, Procurement, or a related field.
  • Master's degree or relevant professional qualification is an advantage.
  • 8–12+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, logistics, international trade, export/import, or related operations.
  • 3–5+ years in a senior managerial or leadership position.
  • Strong hands-on experience in international export/import, freight forwarding, customs clearance, and shipping documentation.
  • Experience with LC, CAD, TT, and trade finance processes is highly desirable.
  • Experience in coffee, agriculture, agribusiness, commodity trading, FMCG, manufacturing, or other export-oriented businesses is an advantage.
  • Experience working with Ethiopian regulatory authorities, banks, shipping lines, and international customers is highly desirable.
